Nika Rost is an artist and designer who lives and works in London. In her practice, she explores composition, colour and perspective as tools for emotional perception. She is interested in shifting our familiar view of the body through unexpected angles, fragmentation and an emphasis on individual parts, particularly the limbs.
In this work, Rost explores the boundary between realistic depiction and free artistic interpretation.
The scale of 150 × 120 cm brings the figure closer, focusing attention on the details of the body and pose. Vibrant colour conveys the warmth of the body, depth and shadows, whilst shaping the space and volume of the composition.
